Frequently Ask Question

Questions to Ask Yourself

If you answer “yes” to any of the following, home care may be the right choice:

  • Does your loved one need help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, or eating?

  • Do they require ongoing medical care (wound care, tube feedings, catheters, ostomy, prostheses)?

  • Are there safety concerns about leaving them alone?

  • Do they experience loneliness, depression, or need companionship?

  • Are family caregivers stressed or unable to meet all their needs?

Early Warning Signs

Look for changes such as:

  • Difficulty walking or frequent falls

  • Struggling with daily tasks (cooking, bathing, medications)

  • Confusion, memory loss, or depression

  • Noticeable weight loss or hygiene issues

  • Frequent ER visits or hospitalizations

  • Growing concerns from family members about safety and well-being

 FAQs

  • Many hospital stays can be prevented with early intervention. At Amyst Healthcare, our caregivers and nurses are trained to recognize even subtle changes in a patient’s condition. By catching these early warning signs, we can often treat issues at home—avoiding unnecessary hospital visits.

For example, a change in appetite, increased fatigue, shortness of breath after walking across the room, or difficulty completing daily activities may signal a developing medical concern. When these changes are observed, our caregivers immediately notify a Registered Nurse (RN). The nurse evaluates the situation, communicates with the patient’s physician, and creates a plan of care to address the problem.

This proactive approach helps prevent complications from common conditions that often send patients to the hospital, including:

    • Heart failure

    • Pneumonia

    • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Unlike many non-medical home care agencies, Amyst Healthcare has licensed medical professionals on staff. Instead of simply advising families to “call the doctor” or “call 911,” our team takes action. With our nursing oversight, patients receive early, coordinated care in the comfort of home—improving safety, independence, and peace of mind.

  • Yes. Amyst Healthcare is fully licensed and certified.
Our skilled home health care services are licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services (License No. HHA13846) and we are also certified as a Medicare home health provider. This ensures that our patients and families receive care that meets the highest state and federal standards for safety, quality, and compliance.

  • In most cases we can get care arranged within 24 hours or less.

  • No. Unlike many other agencies, Amyst Healthcare does not require a minimum number of hours or days. We believe care should be built around your needs, not agency rules. Whether you need just a few hours of support or ongoing daily visits, our team will create a care plan that works best for you and your family.

  • Yes. Many of our clients receive skilled nursing and/or therapy services in addition to non-medical caregiving support for daily activities such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, and companionship.

    Here’s how it works:

    • Skilled services (nursing and therapy) are often ordered by a physician and may be covered by Medicaid or Medicare, AHCCCS/ALTCS, or private insurance.

    • Non-medical caregiving is typically private pay or covered under a long-term care insurance policy.

At Amyst Healthcare, our Registered Nurses (RNs) evaluate each client’s needs and coordinate a personalized care plan that may combine both skilled and non-skilled services. We also work directly with insurance providers whenever possible to ensure coverage is applied correctly and families receive the maximum benefit.

  • Absolutely. Amyst Healthcare provides 24/7 on-call support. Our dedicated team — including an on-call Registered Nurse (RN) — is available anytime, day or night at (602) 887-9886. Whether it’s a question, an urgent concern, or a sudden change in condition, you’ll always be able to reach a professional who can assist you.

  • Amyst Healthcare prides itself on matching clients to caregivers that can effectively meet their needs. Clients don’t have to interview caregivers, since Amyst will happily and immediately replace any caregiver that is not a good fit. This is actually a benefit, since having to interview every caregiver prior to their placement would make it impossible to quickly get a replacement when needed, such as during a caregiver illness. We also work hard to limit the number of different caregivers that we assign to a client.on

  • If your caregiver is ever sick or unable to make a scheduled visit, Amyst Healthcare will notify you right away. At that time, we will discuss your options:

    • Send a qualified replacement caregiver to your home, or

    • Reschedule the visit to a time that works best for you.

Our priority is to ensure that your care is never compromised, and that you always feel supported and informed.

  • At Amyst Healthcare, your safety and peace of mind come first. Every caregiver goes through a thorough screening and hiring process, which includes:

    • State and federal background checks

    • Fingerprint clearance card

    • Verification of professional references and work history

    • Review of driving records (for caregivers providing transportation)

    • In-person interviews to ensure compassion, professionalism, and reliability.

Only caregivers who meet our high standards for skill, integrity, and compassion are welcomed onto our team.
